SEK Students Shine at Time-to-Talk Public Speaking Competition
Students from Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (West Kowloon) recently showcased their exceptional public speaking skills by winning the prestigious Merit Award at the Time-to-Talk Public Speaking Competition, organized by the Education Bureau's NET Section on 14 May, 2024.
The accomplished students—Mandasari Andrea Stephanie, Ali Shiloh Asia, and Susita Gurung, all from class 4A—received merit certificates and HK$500 coupons for their outstanding performance. Their captivating speech centered on the theme of indigenous cultures and highlighted how these cultural practices contribute to environmental protection. The trio delivered a stunning rendition inspired by the song Where You Are from the beloved Disney film Moana, leaving the audience both informed and inspired.
Reflecting on their experience, the students expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful competition. They emphasized how the event has motivated them to further explore the intersection of culture and environmental stewardship.
All three winners are active members of the SEK Debate Team and have participated in various debate competitions, honing their skills and confidence. Principal Mr. Lee Tung-ching proudly presented the certificates and prizes during morning assembly, celebrating their achievements and encouraging continued excellence in public speaking.
The success of these students not only highlights their individual talents but also underscores the vibrant culture of debate and public speaking fostered at Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (West Kowloon).
